Research Resiliency Initiative Mini-Grant Application 2025-2026 |
Funded by the EVCP through philanthropy, there will be three cycles of the Mini-Grants Program in 2025-2026.
Eligibility
Cycle 2 (October - December 2025)
Eligible applicants for the second cycle include:

Clinical Fellows
- Postdoctoral Researchers
-
Assistant Professors
- Associate Professors with terminated grants
Cycle 1 (August - September 2025)
Eligible applicants for the first cycle are researchers with a federal grant that was terminated, whether reinstated or not, who are either:

Early-stage researchers with career development (K) awards (e.g. K23, K99, K12, K76)

Assistant Professors
Funding Available
Applicants may request up to $10,000 to spend in 12 months to support activities that strengthen future funding applications. Note: funding is not intended for faculty salary support. Allowable uses include:

Generating or analyzing preliminary data

Working with a grant writer to support new proposal submissions

Professional grant and manuscript writing consultations are available on an hourly recharge basis through CTSI Consultation Services: https://consult.ucsf.edu/study-design. Email ctsi.consulting@ucsf.edu with questions.

Other justified activities aligned with research development
Application Requirements
Applicants must answer the following questions (1000 character limit each):
1. Why do you think your area of research is at risk for not being funded?
2. Why is the funding needed?
3. How will the funds be used?
4. What tangible product(s) or outcomes will funding result in (e.g., pilot data, grant submission)?
5. Itemized budget with justification
Review and Funding Process
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Cycle 1: August to September 2025
Cycle 2: October to December 2025*
Cycle 3: January to April 2026*
*Applications will be accepted until all available funding has been awarded.
Outcomes and Reporting
Funded researchers are required to submit a brief report after 12 months to assess:

Funding outcomes (e.g., pilot data, submitted or awarded grants)

Research presentations or products resulting from mini-grant support
